Ask Ryan Your Most Difficult SEO Question!

Why is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Important?

  • According to the Pew Internet Project, 91% of consumers use search engines to find information online. If you want to reach these potential customers, you need to show up in the search results.
  • According to Hubspot, 75% of searchers never go to the second page of results. Where are you in the search results when you type in a phrase you’d like to be found for?
  • SEO helps drive awareness and educates your potential buyers before purchase. This is where a good content strategy comes in.
  • SEO is still one of the most cost-effective forms of internet marketing. The investment you make can pay dividends long into the future, unlike paid search.
  • Everything you do affects SEO--from technical aspects of your website to harsh reviews by former employees.
  • Your competitors are working on their search engine visibility every day, making it more difficult for customers to find you.

Our Process

Whether you’re a start-up, an SMB, or a multi-million dollar enterprise, the basic process of SEO is the same. The first 30-60 days are typically spent in Research and Strategy phases: learning about the company, its competitors, the industry as a whole, and identifying opportunities. The Execution phase is an ongoing monthly or quarterly cycle.

  • 01. Competitor Analysis

Using tools like SEMRush, ahrefs, and lots of hands-on research, we conduct a thorough examination of your top competitors to identify their current strategies and look for opportunities for you.

  • 02. Internal Site Analysis

This includes a technical site audit, a content gap analysis, and an examination of your information architecture (IA) and user experience (UX).

  • 03. Keyword Research

Target keywords evolve from 3 areas: the Competitor Analysis, Google search data, and internal knowledge of the business or the industry (usually learned from those who sell the products or services). We cast a wide net to collect ideas before narrowing this list down to the best candidates.

  • 04. Keyword Strategy

After collecting a mass of keyword ideas, we weed out bad matches and whittle the list down to the ones that best match your company and goals. These target keywords will drive the optimization and content plans, and we’ll track their rankings on a monthly basis.

  • 05. Onsite Optimization Plan

By matching the final keyword list with the Site Analysis, we can identify which pages should be optimized for which keyword, as well as what pages need to be created to fill content gaps.

  • 06. Content Plan

As well as creating content for these new pages, we’ll propose topics for blog posts and other types of content that should be added to help visitors in each stage of the buying cycle.

  • 07. Off-site Optimization

Off-site optimization is the art of getting other websites to link to you. This can take many forms: customer reviews, social media posts, guest blogging, YouTube videos, viral content, and directories. The best way to build links naturally is to create fantastic content that people want to share and link to. Here are a couple examples: Pear Twitter Study, SeatSmart’s 10 year lyric analysis.

  • 08. On-site Optimization

Onsite optimization is the science of changing a page to try to get favorable results from search engines. We’ll optimize both the front and back-ends of your pages around your target keywords, and then monitor, analyze and re-optimize until we see positive results.

  • 09. Content

We can write content on a monthly or quarterly basis for you, depending on your content schedule and how technical your company or industry is. We have a talented team of writers, but if need be, we can search out a knowledgeable writer in your field, or even direct content development using your internal team of subject matter experts (SMEs).

What to Expect from Your SEO Campaign

The #1 reason most companies fire their SEO agencies is lack of results, which is mostly driven by setting unrealistic expectations. At Pear, we spend a lot of time discussing your needs and setting reasonable expectations from the beginning before you ever spend a dollar with us. You should expect incremental improvements at a relatively consistent pace with your SEO campaign. Here are some other things that you can expect:

  • Can help you build a foundation of trust and authority online with both visitors and search engines.
  • Will take time and hard work.
  • Can improve your rankings for target keywords.
  • Can increase your organic and referral traffic.
  • Can increase your visibility or brand awareness online.
  • is NOT a one-time fix. Many people think “I optimized my site; now I’m done.” Search results are constantly evolving.
  • WON’T guarantee you the #1 spot in search results.
  • WON’T increase your sales by itself.
  • WON’T work overnight; it can be 3-6 months before you see results.
  • Is NOT a full strategy. SEO is one tactic.

How Do I Know SEO is Working?

  • Organic traffic and referral traffic are increasing.
  • More interior pages are the first page visitors land on.
  • Rankings for the key words we track are improving.
  • Domain authority and trust are increasing.
